Setup

We use the same tools as CSOL 208. If you've already set up for CSOL 208, you only need step 4.

  1. GitHub, VS Code and Kilo Code. Follow the CSOL 208 setup page: create a GitHub account, install VS Code, and install the Kilo Code extension.
  2. Python. Labs use Python 3.10 or later with Jupyter. Kilo Code can set this up for you: ask it to "set up the Python environment for this repo."
  3. Git in VS Code. Make sure you can clone a repository and push a change (Command Palette → Git: Clone).
  4. Connect Kilo Code to the CSOL 204 model. We'll post how to connect (an endpoint, a key and a model name) on bCourses before the first lab. Enter them in Kilo Code's provider settings, then try a small task to confirm it answers.

Keep your key private. It's tied to a course budget, so it stays in Kilo Code's settings only: never in a file, notebook, chat or commit.

Stuck? Bring your laptop to office hours or come 10 minutes early to the first class. If your setup breaks on the day, join a lab group whose setup works.
