Labs
Each lab starts from a template repository on GitHub. Make a copy, open it in VS Code with Kilo Code, and follow its README. Do the setup first.
L1 · Paper cup vs. ceramic mug (Tu 10/20)
Your first life cycle assessment, built with an AI coding agent and then audited. Every lab group starts from the cup-and-mug model from the lecture, already filled in, and adds one assigned variant: a different washing method, grid, end of life, material or lifetime.

Before class (10 minutes):
- Open the template link and click Use this template to make your own copy. In class you'll work in a lab group of 3–4, in one member's copy.
- Clone it in VS Code (Command Palette → Git: Clone).
- In the VS Code terminal, run
pip install -r requirements.txt. - Ask Kilo Code "What is in this repo?" If it answers, you're ready.
In class (38 minutes, 10:12–10:50):
| Time | Step |
|---|---|
| 10:12 | Run the model and check that you get the lecture's answer |
| 10:15 | Add your variant with Kilo Code, then check what it added |
| 10:27 | Source, audit and get a second opinion: replace placeholder numbers with sourced ones, audit at least three, then have a fresh AI critique the model |
| 10:44 | Interpret: who wins, the hotspot, and what flips the answer |
| 10:48 | Push your work to GitHub |
Step-by-step instructions and prompts are in the template's README.
